Why Barbour Is A Great Investment
Good Morning, Friends!
Last week was the first time I have posted about the infamous Barbour Jackets, and since then, I have received so many questions: are they worth the price, what makes them so special to pay that much for a jacket, how do they fit, and so on. So I thought I would put together a post on why I believe these jackets are a must have investment piece for every person, man or woman!
Let's start with:
M Y // F A V O R I T E // J A C K E T S
W H Y // I // L O V E // T H E M
Where to even start with this? The better question would be what do I not love about them, because the answer is nothing!
I got my first Barbour jacket when I was 18, it was a graduation present from high school as I ventured into the world of the unknown: college. At the time, I didn't realize how amazing these jackets were. I had lots of friends in high school that had them and both my brothers & dad had one, but never one to call my own, until now.
As I'm sure you all know, Columbia, SC is not known for it's cool falls and brisk winters, so I had to wait a few months before I was able to test out this bad boy and take him for a spin ;)
December came rolling around and we had an unseasonably cold day (keep in mind, this was about 50 degrees and some girls would wear uggs to keep warm),and I finally had the opportunity to wear to my jacket! I was so excited because it was a gift that meant so much to me, but also one that I had to sit and stare at for months before being able to finally wear it!
However, today was the day, I was off the great places I was off and away! (in my Barbour). I had done some research on the history of the jackets and found out the they were of British heritage, unbeknownst to me that the person I was going to marry one day had that same heritage (fun fact of the day).
These jackets were designed first in 1894 and have proved to stand the test of (fashion) times with their practical, durable, stylish and timeless looks. If you don't believe me, the Royal family are true testaments to just how iconic these jackets are.
With 36 people from start to finish helping to put 1 jacket together, these are designed to last a lifetime (even to outlast you!). What is so great about them is that with their waxed coating, they are able to be re-waxed when the time comes, which typically tends to me decades down the road, meaning you don't have to purchase a new one, you just send it back and Barbour takes care of everything!
Barbour has expanded from solely waxed jackets to quilted, more stylish ones. One of my favorite parts about these jackets is that most of them have a detachable vest inside. Let me tell you, this isn't just any vest. THIS vest will keep you warmer than you could have imagined possible. So for the chilly winter days, zip in your vest and be out the door ready to take on anything life throws at you, and for those warmer winter days, leave out the vest to ensure you can stay stylish in your jacket all day long without getting too hot.
From Daniel Craig to the Royal family, Barbour fits every lifestyle and every fashion lovers dream. Overall, these jackets truly are amazing and while they have a steeper price, think about how many coats you buy throughout a lifetime that only last a year. I know that I have purchased WAY too many that never last, so why not skip on 3 coats that will only last roughly a year, and get a Barbour for a lifetime?
If you have any questions about sizing or if you need any specifics on which coat I'm wearing in a certain picture, please comment below or DM me and I will get back with you a s quickly as I can!
Enjoy!
