$21 Dress & Our Engagement Party
Good Morning & Happy Monday!
Y'all, my heart is just so full. This past weekend was one that words can't even begin to describe. It started Friday morning when I opened the front door to my parent's house and there were three orchids on our steps: one for each of my brothers & their fiancé's and one for Harry and me. One of our great family friends sent us them to celebrate our engagement party since they were not able to be there. How sweet of them?
The weekend then went on to lots of prep work for the party Saturday, which was hosted at my parents house. We had to trim some tree's, clean the house, get the silver polished (all of our silver is from HERE), and get everything set up for everyone's arrival.
The time came for the party to begin, and first to arrive was two of my cousins who also recently got engaged so we were able to spend a little time celebrating with them and catching up before the other guests arrive. Before I knew it, the house was packed with people who were there to celebrate us and how exciting these next few months are going to be. It was the perfect engagement party.
As I mentioned in my last post, my brother and his fiancé currently are living in New Zealand, so for obvious reason they were not able to be there for their own party. When we told people our plan, they looked at us like we were crazy, but we were able to put up a projector and FaceTime with them for about an hour and a half & it was perfect! They were able to be a part of the party & somewhat celebrate with everyone!
Sunday was spent relaxing and having breakfast with my parents and the soon-to-be in-laws. After breakfast we cleaned up & spent the next few hours on the boat before heading back to Charlotte.
Enough about my weekend, I wanted to share this outfit with y'all because THIS dress is only $21!! I think it is the cutest dress I have ever seen and for that price, how could you not love it?! The criss-cross back detail and high-neck make for the perfect classic, southern dress! Also, something that is SO important to me when buying dresses (silly, I know) but it has POCKETS! This is something that I have looked for in dresses for as long as I can remember because pockets are so useful!
As I'm sure all of you have seen, straw bags for summer are a staple, however, THIS one is by far my favorite. This straw bag is from a boutique store in Charleston called Madison Matthews. The bag is currently not listed on their website, so just call and ask for Caroline or Ginger and tell them you saw the bag on my blog. Funny enough, Caroline, one of the owners, was my brothers kindergarten teacher, and when I was in Atlanta a few months ago with my mom, she recognized my mom from 20+ years ago and so we started talking and they are seriously the sweetest women. Every time I am in Charleston I go into their beautiful store located just south of Broad Street and find new things I have to have. You'll be seeing a lot more of them on my blog because they have the perfect southern style!
For summer, I LOVE everything that has to do with a cute hat, especially THIS one that I'm wearing. I love the bow in the back and the open top because your hair can still see the sun to get those natural highlights but it's also covering your face from those strong rays. While we were shooting this look, I had about 10 people stop and ask me where it was from. The best news? It's only $22!!
I'm sure you've seen me post about my bracelets before, but like I have said many times, this one is one of my all time favorites. It is an investment piece, but I promise this will be one of your favorites as well. The GoldBug Collection was started by a friend of mine that I have known since the day I was born, and her parents & mine have been friends even longer than that. The family owns a jewelry store in Charleston called Croghans Jewel Box & has been in their family for many generations. Next time you are in Charleston, stop by their store on King Street, even if it's just to look around, they are the sweetest family & you will definitely be seeing more of them as well :)
The watch I am wearing is one y'all have also seen before, it's by Daniel Wellington and I can't get enough of it. With it's adjustable strap & rose gold color, it's the perfect addition to any outfit. I wear it with all of my gold jewelry and it can dress up an outfit but also is one that I wear with gym shorts around the house. I love how plain and simple it is, but also how elegant it can make you feel.

Have a great rest of your Monday!
It's the southern way,
